Alex specializes in the design of Aquatic and Sports facilities and has a proven history, designing and delivering some of New Zealand’s most recognizable new build Aquatic and Sports facilities. Alex is experienced in all aspects of the Design process from stakeholder engagement to CIBSE soft landings and is able to distill complex brief’s into simple and robust design solutions. Alex has a passion for sustainable design and has a philosophy of doing simple things well.
As a certified WUFI practitioner he understands the challenges New Zealand faces over the next 10 years transitioning to more science-based building envelope design solutions. Alex is an advocate for positive change in the Sustainable design of buildings and has been spearheading the movement through greater use of verification tools such as WUFI and Sefaira and advocating for Carbon Sequestration through greater Timber-based design solutions. The most recent Aquatic facilities of Selwyn Aquatic and Wanaka Aquatic Centre are testaments to this passion.
Outside of work Alex enjoys being active outdoors and challenging his body and mind and can often be found climbing, trail running, navigating and adventure racing in the mountains of the Southern Alps. He lives in Christchurch at the foot of the Port Hills with his wife Ann-Marie and son Joshua.
