Portside Chambers

Portside Chambers is a new two storey office building situated adjacent to the historic Crown Hotel in Ahuriri.  

The site was a former fish processing factory and there are still numerous surviving warehouse and industrial buildings in the area. The form and mass of the building fits in comfortably with it's surroundings.  Existing nearby buildings are generally two storey and form strong street edges. Reference is made to the area's history with a profiled metal "sawtooth" roof, common in the existing buildings in the vicinity, which provides a beautiful soft light to the modern interior.
